About the MHR Student Association

________________________________________________________________

We are the students’ association associated with the University of Manitoba Masters of Human Rights program, located in Robson Hall. Our goal is to support students throughout their time in the MHR program, while connecting them to the wider university and Winnipeg communities. We work closely with the MHR program faculty, Manitoba Law Students’ Association, Manitoba Indigenous Law Students Association and other human rights-focused groups located on campus.

FAQ

How do I join the MHRSA?

Joining MHRSA is simple - you are a member as soon as you are admitted into the program and register for your first-year classes. During first-year orientation, the MHRSA executive team will introduce themselves and their contact information, as well as how to join the MHRSA group chat.

How much does it cost to be a member of MHRSA?

There is no additional cost to be a member of MHRSA, you just need to be a registered first-year or continuing student in the Masters of Human Rights program.

How many events do you host per month?

We aim to host at least two events per month, one community event for the MHR students to gather together and create connections, and one advocacy event to engage students in the broader community and create change. We also aim to host two student association meetings per semester to discuss upcoming events, merchandise, program recommendations and get student feedback.

What if I am an LLM student?

As LLM students do not currently have their own student association, they are welcome at all MHRSA events, and the graduate student lounge is shared between MHRSA and LLM students. Please see the page “LLM students” for more LLM-specific information.
